Sarang is a young, dynamic, talented artiste who proudly represents the third generation of his family into music. Sarang’s musical journey began very early by learning tabla and classical vocals. It was at the age of 13 that Sarang was moved by the deep tonal quality of Sarod and its various possibilities. Sarang has been learning Sarod under the guidance of his father-guru Pt.RajanKulkarni, ever since.He takes inspiration from several Indian musicians, especially late Ustaad Ali Akbar khan.
His playing reflects a traditional approach in building the environment of the raga with intense alaapi and jod. Sarang showcases great command over the instrument and fearlessly plays with intricate patterns.
Sarang has developed a unique instrument combining the structure and the style of sarod and the electric guitar – merging into an electric sarod.This unique instrument was named “Z ROD” by UstaadTaufiqQureshi.
Along with concerts across India, Sarang has performed in New York, Dubai, Muscat and Singapore. He is widely appreciated by audiences as well as Pandits. A winner of several awards, Sarang is definitely one of the very few promising youngsters dedicated to Classical music.
