Prathamesh Kandalkar (PERCUSSIONS)

A city boy from the heartland of Mumbai, this multi-percussionist has played an important role in popularizing the West African rhythms in India. Prathamesh is an integral part of the energetic band Boombay Djembe Folas. They are a pioneering band of West African music in India.

A disciple of percussion maestro and composer UstaadTaufiqQureshi, Prathamesh is a master of Djembe and plays a number of other percussion instruments. Young and old often groove to his beats at different clubs like Blue Frog, Esco Bar, Tote to name a few.

Prathamesh has played rhythms in advertisements for major brands such as Nike, Coke, Pepsi, Britannia, Sony Bravia and Etihad Airways. He played for Pepsi- Indian cricket team World Cup anthem as well as the ESPN Mumbai Marathon anthem.

He is just as comfortable playing arena-sixed crowds at events like Commonwealth Closing Ceremonies- Melbourne & Delhi, Youth Commonwealth Games- Pune, IPL Opening Ceremonies- Chennai & Kolkata.

Prathamesh has also assisted Ust. TaufiqQureshi for background scores and music for superhit films like BhaagMilkhaBhaag, Houseful, ABCD (Any Body Can Dance), Action Replay and Tez.

This young, funky talent house has a great stage presence and a rhythmic energy that no one can escape.
